Here Comes…So Many Brides
When Creative Meets Country
Weddings and events were never a part of the original plan, but sometimes, rather than lemons, life hands you a poorly executed bouquet and a bride that loves your store and needs your help. That was the day Glass Tangerine became an “accidental florist,” and if you had told Emma when we opened that weddings would quickly become one of the biggest pieces of the business, she would have called you crazy. We were supposed to be a plant store, not a florist, and truth be told, we still aren’t a traditional florist, but we love making your wedding day dreams come true.
The 2025 wedding season has arrived, and with it, a large influx of phone calls and drop-ins to ask whether or not we do weddings, and if so, how to book with us. How I haven’t written a blog post about this before I’m not entirely sure, but consider this your ultimate guide to understanding weddings with Glass Tangerine!
Congratulations, you’re engaged! Step one is complete! All jokes aside, remember that your engagement and wedding are all about you and your partner. Don’t start immediately stressing about planning, enjoy this time! Planning your wedding does not have to be an insane stress gauntlet to hurtle through. Once you feel like you’ve had enough time to bask in the glow of the new addition to your finger, you can start.
First, find your vision. What do you imagine when you picture your perfect wedding day? Where are you; what sort of flowers and colors surround you; what does the day feel like? Make a Pinterest board! You can even add in tabs to your board on Pinterest to separate things like decor, dresses, and florals. Once you’ve figured out your vibe, finding your venue is typically the best first step. There are multiple stunning venues scattered around Cookeville and throughout Tennessee, and truly no shortage of options for any budget. At Glass Tangerine, we actually require you to have booked your venue before we meet with you because that is the best way for us to determine exactly what you need and where. A floral consultation with no venue is virtually impossible, so absolutely book your venue before trying to book your florals!
My Greenhouse Wedding
They made my wedding the best, most beautiful day. (Maybe I’m a little biased…)
Now that you’ve booked a venue, to get in contact with us we make it super simple. On our website, (yes, the very one you are currently on) there is a tab that reads: “Weddings and Events.” You’re going to click on it, and find information about all of our different services. This gives you a little more of an idea of what you may need for your big day, and a base idea of our pricing. Our on-site build-outs start at $3500, but if you don’t need any installations or us on-site, we also offer elopement services down to $350. We have worked with brides with a multitude of visions and budgets, and we want to work with you as well.
You have a decent grasp on our services and price ranges at this point, so you can click the tab next to the one you’re currently on that reads: “Wedding Application.” This is where the fun really begins. Here, you will find our questionnaire that goes through every possible option you could need. Color, number of bridesmaids and/or groomsmen, table count, budget, we ask it all. And if you aren’t 100% sure about parts of it, that is perfect okay! You can be as specific or unspecific as you want; this is is simply to prepare us for your in-person consultation with an idea of what we’re working towards. There’s even a place to link your Pinterest board, which absolutely helps us step into your vision with you. This is a great moment to really evaluate what you’re looking for on the day of your wedding.
A Magical Arbor Install
This arbor overlooking the water was truly something out of a fairy tale. We love making magic happen on-site.
Once you’ve sent in the wedding application, our event coordinator and manager, Aspen Turney, will reach out to you to set up an in-person consultation (or a phone consultation for our long-distance friends) where you will walk through your application with us and we figure out exactly what you want. We talk it all: flower varieties, colors, candles if you want them…everything! And then, we design you a custom floral proposal tailored to you and your wedding. Aspen personalizes every proposal to be clear and concise with exactly what you’ve asked for. This is where you get your pricing and see the full picture. You are able to read your proposal and make edits as necessary by emailing us with updated information, or with something as simple as wanting a different color. Then, we look to a site-visit.
If we’re going to be on-site on your wedding day, we want to walk through it with you beforehand! Our team will work with you to find a day that works for all involved parties, and go with you to your venue, so we can see the space and plan accordingly. At this point, the major pieces of the process are done! We will finalize exactly what you want and secure payment one month before so we can place your flower order, and you’ll be ready!
Fairy Garden Table Growth
Of course, I can’t talk about weddings with Glass Tangerine and not talk about everyone’s favorite part: the bridal build. Typically scheduled for the day before your wedding, you are able to come in and build your bouquet with us! Buckets set out around the flower bar waiting for you to help us build your bouquet exactly the way you’ve dreamed it. You can bring your family and your bridesmaids with you to build their bouquets as well if you’d like. All of our bride’s have told us it’s one of if not their absolute favorite part. You get to relax and have fun with flowers, what could be better?
Your wedding is a beautiful day. Don’t let social media trends and unwelcome input make you feel like it’s not your day. We would love to be a part of it. Happy Wedding Season!
